Some highlights for this annual, must-see event are listed below.

Realcomm and BOMA simultaneous Shows and Conferences

Realcomm and BOMA International’s North American Real Estate Congress and The Office Building Show  [ http://s12.a2zinc.net/clients/Boma2004/Boma2005/ , ] will be presented concurrently at the Anaheim Convention Center, Anaheim, California, June 25-28, 2005.

BOMA's Office Building Show exhibition and Realcomm's exhibition will be located in adjacent exhibit halls and both will be open to BOMA and Realcomm attendees.  BOMA and Realcomm will also concurrently offer education seminars and other conference events.  Attendees will register for one or the other, but will have the opportunity to purchase special "add on" packages permitting entrance to some programs in both events.  Both events are expected to attract more than 6,000 attendees and participants from the commercial real estate industry.

BOMA’s Office Building Show attracts over 300 industry companies to exhibit their products and services. The Show also includes the Solutions Showcase, an exciting forum to explore the newest technologies in office building management.

Real Property Data Standards Advance at Conference

Realcomm supports development in many commercial real estate technology sectors.  An example is the Data Standards Meeting on Sunday, June 26, 2005  by the Open Standards Consortium for Real Estate (OSCRE)  [ www.oscre.org ].  They cooperate to set data standards internationally with PISCES, the Europe based Property Information Systems Common Exchange Standards [ http://www.pisces.co.uk/ ].  These non-profit organizations are industry leaders driving development and adoption of e-business standards throughout the real estate industry via the “OSCRE Standard™ ”.  Electronic data exchange and protocol models are recognized as necessary for transparent property data communications on an Internet and internationally.

This data standards initiative involves an alphabet soup of other organizations that have already agreed, in principle, to strategically align with OSCRE, including CoreNet Global, NCREIF, NAREIM, PREA, The Data Consortium, The National Association of REALTORS (NAR), RICS, The British Land Registry, Investment Property Forum, Legal Software Suppliers Association and the Council of Mortgage Lenders.

In addition to these already strategically committed groups, PISCES and OSCRE have been busy meeting with many other groups and are in the process of ongoing discussions with MISMO, The Appraisal Institute, MITS, CABA, NAIOP, IFMA, BOMA, AIA, IAI and the Design Build Institute of America.

Significant is that in March 2005 officers were elected to the Strategy and Planning Workgroup.  This workgroup’s mission is to select, define and standardize the actual metrics by which the real estate industry measures itself; the data elements from which these metrics are derived; and the protocols necessary for transparent communications between technologies processing this information.

John Vivadelli will hold the Workgroup Chair position, with Kay McNew and Mr. Robert Shepard sharing the Vice-Chair position.  Mr. Vivadelli, founder and CEO of AgilQuest [ www.agilquest.com ], has broad-ranging experience in the technology field as both a market visionary and product developer.  AgilQuest’s web-native, OnBoard® workplace management solution tracks daily workplace operations and measures the actual use of an organization’s infrastructure of workspaces, services and equipment.

A Pre-Conference members only OSCRE live demonstration will show the data transfer standard being developed by their Commercial Information Exchange Working Group [ CIEWG ].
